Accommodation
A wide number of children have no accommodation, long term trends show the number of households in temporary accommodation are still on increase in rural areas of Uganda and among orphans and vulnerable children. These these numbers however are undesirable.
Facts about homeless children:
- many children currently live in temporary accommodation
- all homeless children live on streets
- orphaned children lives in temporary accommodation
Children in poor housing:
- are more likely to develop a cough
- have a higher risk of severe ill-health and disability during childhood and early adulthood
- are more likely to contract meningitis in overcrowded homes
